How was your weekend? Mine went by way too fast! I finished the baby blanket (yay!) so that’s done. I also spent a couple of quiet hours figuring things out for an upcoming work event. As much as it sucks to work on a weekend, sometimes it’s nice to know that no one is going to call you and you can spend a couple of hours just going through things without any interruption. I felt so much better after that.
Currently, this upcoming week doesn’t seem as full on as last week. Great news! I have a couple of after work networking parties I should be hitting up. Let’s see if I get there.
Today’s song is from Example. I don’t own any of his cds but I always love the singles I hear. Plus, he’s really funny on twitter.
How was your weekend? It was so chilly here! I was able to complete some of the things I planned on doing this weekend. That is always such a great feeling. I was able to get a bag together for the Swap. This lead to more organizing including a box of stuff set aside for the next time the Canadian Diabetes Pick up comes. Did you know they collect used ink cartridges as well? This is so exciting to me. I have four years of cartridges in a box that I keep forgetting to bring in to recycle.
I nearly finished my blanket. Hopefully, I can finish tonight. Only another inch or so and then I can start the border. Easy peasy. I also made some delicious banana bread! I think I like baked bananas a lot more than regular ones. I used Martha’s recipe from The Baking Handbook. Sorry, I can’t seem to find online. I just take out the coconut & add chocolate chips. The recipe makes two loaves. Too much for me so I usually drop off the second with my parents.
Today’s song is from last year already! Feels like yesterday. I just love Swedish House Mafia and this video. The power of puppies!!
How was your weekend? I also discovered Draw Something. Yikes. Really shouldn’t have jumped on that bandwagon? So addicting!
How was your weekend? Are you still enjoying a long weekend? It was a chilly weekend for us in Winnipeg. I even noticed a few snow flakes this morning. Hmm…hope it’s only a temporary glitch. I got a lot of work done on the new baby blanket and read two books! Small books but books notheless.
They were Austenland by Shannon Hale and Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson. Austenland is cute but nothing particularly special. There was a twist at the end that saved the book for me. That said, I just noticed there’s a sequel and I’ll probably read it. Before I Go to Sleep was FANTASTIC! I saw this recommended on a book blog but I don’t remember which one. It’s a very fast paced thriller and the kind that needs to be read in a day or two. I highly recommend it.
Today’s song is brought to you by the Queen of All Things Madonna. Love this song! It’s accompanied by a very gorgeous black & white video. Classic Madonna. I can’t wait for a remix of this song. I think it’s going to be amazing when remixed.
What did you get up to? After driving a lot for work on Thursday & Friday (6 hours each way), I just wanted to laze about. I spent a lot of time on Netflix watching Austenesque movies while knitting. Over the course of the weekend, I watched Sense & Sensibility, North & South, Jane Austen Book Club (love this one) and Pride & Prejudice. I couldn’t stop! Do you ever go through those phases where you just want to watch or read a certain type of thing?
I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head for the past few days. It’s a few years old but it’s perfection.
How was your weekend? What song is stuck in your head?
I had an ok weekend. It was a bit chilly but very sunny so it felt warmer than it was. Bingo was a lot of fun. There is such a random assortment of people at bingo that you can’t help but love it. I also caught up on some long overdue knitting. I’ve also been watching a lot of Hotel Babylon on Netflix. I really watch the most random assortment of things on Netflix. If you have Netflix Canada, please send me some recommendations!
Today’s song just popped in my head yesterday completely out of nowhere. I don’t even know the last time I heard this song. It could be years. Limblifter was Canadian band in the 90s. I don’t think they’re still together but I could be wrong. I was a bit obsessed with them and their previous band Age of Electric. The 90s were a great time for Canadian music. That was pretty much all I listened to at the time. I really have to upload some of my old cds to my ipod.
This week sees me heading to Saskatchewan for a few days (looks like 4 at least) for work. Hopefully the sun stays out for the drive!
How was your weekend? Mine was relaxing overall even though Friday ended up being super stressful. Plus, I went to BINGO and let me tell you, those ladies are hard core. lol. This week is going to be exhausting. I have work meetings Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. Looks like a long week ahead for me.
This week’s Music Monday is a BRAND NEW SONG! It was just released on radio today. I love Marina and I love this song. So excited for the new album.
How was your weekend? Mine was a little different than anticipated. My uncle was in town so we went out for supper on Saturday and those leftovers lasted me today as well. So no chili for me this weekend! That’s ok it’s always nice for someone else to cook dinner for me. I’ll have to make chili tomorrow night because I’m craving it! Otherwise, it was still snowy here over the weekend so I stayed in. I only made a quick trip to Ram Wool Co-op to get some more wool for my blanket.
This weekend, I also took advantage of Netflix and watched two movies I can’t believe I’ve never seen before: Shampoo and To Die For. To Die For has been on my list literally since it came out. I don’t know why I haven’t seen it until now. It actually just popped into my head so I searched for it on Netflix. I was so glad it was there! I used to have such a crush on Joaquin Phoenix. Not really at that time (1995) but in about 5 more years, I’d be all over him. lol.
Shampoo was one of those movies that pops up every once in awhile so I thought I had to watch it just to watch it. Warren Beatty is so hot in it. I imagine that he had enough real life experience to draw from to portray a womanizing hairdresser. Goldie Hawn & Julie Christie are so gorgeous in the movie also. I imagine with the three of them that it was probably a big deal when this movie came out. Actually, just checked wiki and Shampoo was the 4th highest grossing movie in 1975 behind Jaws, One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wow! 1975 was a FANTASTIC year for movies. The top three are so iconic.
There is so much going on in this photo that I could make an entire post just on its contents. From the carpet in the bathroom to Warren’s belt and everything in between. Seriously though, how did Julie Christie’s hair get that much volume?! It’s intense. Actually, even Warren’s had a life of his own. There was a lot of big hair in this movie.
In other news, I found my ring! Yay! It literally fell within the smallest crack between two boxes. How do things always wind up somewhere that should be difficult to get to? It was so weird not to be wearing it. I think I have to invest in a jewelry box or something to keep it safe because that was scary!
Today’s song is by last week’s Brit winner Ed Sheeran. Because I like to listen to BBC Radio 1 during the day, I was familiar with his music but I didn’t put it together that he had more than one song. Sometimes, I just don’t pay attention to who sings what if I can’t put a face to the name. I thought he did a great job at the Brits plus I have a soft spot for gingers. Now, if only his album was available in Canada. :/
This week’s Music Monday is a bit late because we had the day off today! Thank you Mr. Riel (It was Louis Riel Day today!). It was so nice to have another loungy weekend to catch up on laundry, bad tv and knitting! It’s crazy how you can spend so many hours on a project and it looks like you accomplished nothing. Oh well, it’s always like that at the beginning.
I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that I didn’t know this was a David Guetta song until I went searching for it on youtube. It’s so obvious now. I just love this song. I find it so powerful and inspiring. I credit that to Sia. She has the most amazing voice.
How was your weekend? I have to say that mine fly by in an instant. I was so glad to have a lazy day on Sunday. I still haven’t made the nail polish rack. By the time I baked all those cookies for my brother, I just wanted to go haome and relax. Fortunately, this week is going to be a lot less chaotic than last week. Now, I have no excuse to skip out on the gym! Since this weekend was a bit depressing with the Whitney news, I thought I’d kick off this week with an old favourite. The Spice Girls are always good for a smile.
I was trying to pick a song that wasn’t so current Top 40 but I can’t get this song out of my mind! I love it. It puts me in such a terrific mood. I think Jessie J is so interesting. It doesn’t seem like any of her singles resemble each other at all. The first Jessie J song I heard was Do it Like a Dude and that sounds nothing like this. Actually, I thought she’d be a bit rougher than she is. I don’t know if that makes any sense. lol.
